GD-420
Moly Treatment
for SAE 80W-90 Gear Oil |
- Applications
-
GD-420 Moly Treatment for SAE 80W-90 Gear Oil is formulated
for SAE 80W-90 automotive gear oil (GL-5 hypoid) and numerous other kinds of applications specifying an SAE 80W-90 gear oil. Not recommended for limited slip,
positive traction, or locker type differential gear sets, or for
gear oils used with wet clutches.
Benefits
- GD-420 imparts the
benefits* of moly into plain gear oil. Moly is a solid film lubricant with a low coefficient of friction
and an affinity for steel and other metals. The moly decreases
friction of the two counter-moving sliding surfaces of gear teeth
by filling in microscopic pores of the metal surfaces and plating
out over the surface, thus helping to keep the two surfaces separated
during operation. Also, moly remains on the surface during stationary
periods; this prevents "dry" starts (metal against metal)
of the gear teeth when operation begins.
In vehicles with manual transmissions GD-420 improves shifting, reduces noise, helps to eliminate notchy, balky and irregular shifting.
Guard Dog protects the gears from wear, which extends the life of them.
